Choose the Right Bit
Working with an electric screwdriver seems harsh and risky as we use incorrect bit often. Choosing the right bit for the particular power screwdriver is essential. For medium wood screws, a PZ2 is the most common.
However, keep the bit at a 45 degree. If the bit stays on, you are working with the correct bit. That’s how you can ensure that you are using the right bit.
Install the proper bit and don’t forget to tighten the chuck!
Properly Fitted Bit
As you are using an electric screwdriver, it is important to check that the bit stays tightly in the screw head. If the bit isn’t fit properly, it will not provide the best performance also it is dangerous.
In drilling jobs, you need to put pressure on the head of the screwdriver; you already know that. If the bit isn’t fit on the head then it can come out.
Always ensure that the bit stays fit on the screw head.
Make a Pilot Hole
If you are going to drive a hole into the wood, it would be better to create a pilot hole first. Pilot holes, however, assure that you are operating correctly and straightly. Screws usually tend to go with the grain of the wood and pilot holes prevent that and keep the screw in correct position.
Also, pilot holes avoid the wood from splitting while you drive screw in. In soft wood use an awl and punch hole to form a pilot hole and for hardwood drill a pilot hole with some kind of tool you wish.
Star the Electric Screwdriver
If there is a speed range switch (usually most power drill has) turn it to the particular speed. You will find a forward and reverse switch.
If you want to install a screw, keep it in a forward position and if you want to take the screw out keep it in the reverse position. Now press the trigger switch and start installing the bolt! Keep driving until the screw doesn’t dig in the position you need.
Clean and Store
After using the electric power drill clean it properly and store it in the particular toolbox. However, if you don’t maintain a power drill properly, it will not provide the performance you need.
While using any power tool, safety is the first thing to consider. You can wear eye glass and hand gloves while using power tools. Stay safe and use the electric screwdriver like a pro! Keep practicing! You know practice makes a man perfect!
Good Luck! 🙂
