You can call them all-rounder of your tool box. A power drill is a very easy tool to manage and operate. Today I am going to give you some suggestion about how to operate a power drill without difficulty.
Remember Cordless drill is not a power drill. If we are talking about a power drill that means we are talking about an electric plug in drill. Though cordless drill has many advantages but it has limited power than a corded drill. Let’s see some simple suggestions regarding this topic:
What You Will Need to Use a Power Drill:
- Must need a power drill first. Without a power drill, this article is pointless!
- You have to need an extension cord to connect the power drill with electricity.
- Particular drill bits for particular work
- Chuck key
- Drill accessories
Have Good Energy/Power Supply Connection:
Before start drilling make sure you have a good energy supply connection. You may have to work far away from the power outlet. In that case, manage a good extension cord. Make sure that the wire is long enough so that you can move easily with your power drill and it isn’t loose connection.
Choose the Perfect Bit For Particular Work:
A bit is very important for drilling. Actually, you can’t drill without a bit. Most common bit material is made of high-speed steel. We can see different types of bits for different types of work. Let’s discuss some common drill bits and their usage.
Screwdriver insert and power bit: For insert a screwdriver
Twist Bits: For drilling into woods and plastic and many metals
Forstner Drill Bits: clean flat bottom holes in wood
Auger bits: Large hole in wood
Sell feed bits: Used by professionals for making big holes
Adjust The Bit Into The Chuck Hole:
There is a chuck at the end of the drill to hold the bit. To insert a bit you need to open the chuck by rotating it with your hand on the left side. Some power drill has a key. For that key chuck, you need to open the key first by turning it to the left then rotate the chuck into left direction and put the particular bit into the chuck hole.
Now turn the chuck into the right direction until the bit is tightening enough. If there is key then put it in the keyhole and turn it in the right direction again to lock.
If you adjust the particular bit into the chuck hole then you are ready to drill. You need to take some safety before you start drilling.
- Wear safety glass
- Wear a face mask if possible
- Drill bits must be sharp
- Before changing bit, make sure that the power is off
